Calli is the author of a fabulous blog called Make It Do. It's one of my faves and I've gotten inspiration for many, many projects from her. A while ago, I pinned Calli's recipe for Holiday Stove Top Potpourri onto my Pinterest board, The Most Wonderful Time of the Year (Sooo many goodies there! Please check it out!). When I needed to create a gift for ER's music teacher, I thought this would be the perfect time to try it out. I got all of the supplies I needed at Target.
Recipe at the ready! Find it right here! |
My new favorite spices. Why my favorites? Just look at those sweet jars and lids! I've already got big plans for reusing when they're empty! |
All my supplies--cranberries, orange, spices, cute gift container, and a Ziploc bag to line the box. |
All the ingredients ready to be closed up. |
How the eff does one go about tying these things? I did the best I could... |
I included a 3 1/3" x 4" Avery shipping label (product #8164) with the recipe & tips from the original blog post, attached to a flat 4 bar card from Paper Source (love) in Paper Bag. The Avery website has easy, easy, easy to use templates that you can design & print right from their website. |
Suitable for gifting! |
I hope you'll try making this. It's really inexpensive and has a huge olfactory impact, not completely unlike the aftermath of Aunt Bertie's 5-Bean Hash, but it's way more pleasant.
Just a small disclaimer: make sure the person you are giving this to is responsible enough to remember to turn off their stove when they head out. Yes, you can have it simmering all day, but no, you should never leave your stove on while you're not home. This is not an appropriate gift for a toddler, teenage boy, or a friend with short-term memory issues.
Love it!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Julie! I hope you make some and it makes your home smell as heavenly as mine does right now at this exact second!! Merry Christmas!
ReplyDeleteThank you for such a kind mention. Merry Christmas to you and your family!
