Totally Down With Downton Abbey!

A couple of posts back, I clued you all in to the struggles Dada and I were facing as we began to wage war with Comcast.  I can now report back to you, that we have raised the white flag and peacefully retreated from the battlefield, with all the dignity we could muster.  Is that "Taps" I hear in the distance?

I believe I was pretty clear in saying that we weren't writing off Comcast completely with our purchase of Apple TV, but rather, we were performing a sort of experiment.  Well, we experimented, talked, and talked, and talked about our options, and for our lifestyle & family at the present time, we gotta stick with cable.  But remember that phone call I mentioned in which I will demand request that our bill be reduced?  Yeah, that's happening tomorrow.

However, we did enjoy (and I mean really enjoy) the first 2 seasons of "Downton Abbey" while we had our free subscriptions to Netflix & HuluPlus.  The first couple of episodes of season 3 are available OnDemand, and we DVR'd episode 3 last night, so we will be all caught up by the middle of this week!!  It's so exciting.

There have been a few shows that Dada and I have revered during our time together.  We loved "24," "The Killing," "Breaking Bad," and now "Downton Abbey."  When we first started watching, I wasn't really expecting Dada to become as engrossed as I was, but we are on a level playing field with this one.  I'm pretty sure we watched it for a good 5 hours on Saturday night.  What?  We had to catch up.

I had been wanting to watch it for some time, but knew that I wanted to start from the beginning.  It's a very good place to start, you know.

So, in short, we love it.  I created a board on Pinterest called The Loveliness of Downton, on which I've started collecting photos of the cast on and off set, some very hilarious memes, and other imagery which I have found more meaningful we've watched, because I've seen the actual scenes or situations represented.  "Free Mr. Bates" now makes lots of sense (although he's truly been imprisoned twice), as does "Ms. O'Brien in the lady's washroom with a bar of soap," Clue-style.

Check out my board, repin, share, follow, and enjoy.  And, if you are so inclined, I hope you'll start watching "Downton Abbey" too.  If you like historical fiction and drama, you will most likely love it.  Do you watch already?  Do you have a favorite character??

Honestly, Laura Linney might as well just be saying this every Sunday night:

    1. Laura's? How can you even tell what she's wearing? Maybe it's one of those draperies they make high school girls wear for their senior picture.

    1. Well, like I said, if you like historical fiction and drama, drama, and more drama, I'm sure you'll thoroughly enjoy it! And if you start watching it, let me know what you think!
