Our Love Was In The Cards.

We've made it to Valentine's Day Eve and I have one more craft to show you.  Well, let's make that 1 1/2!  I'll show you the whole craft first and the half craft last (ooh, a tongue twister).

I saw this playing card garland on Pinterest a few weeks ago and fell in love with the scrappy-randomness of it all.  It was made by Melissa and is for sale in her Etsy store, Country Chiq.  She's got loads of adorable holiday and year-round decorations!  Visit her shop if you're looking for a gift or inspiration!

I made my own card garland this morning and it was a very enjoyable activity.  I made my garland with miniature playing cards and had fun being inventive with adding little details.  

I punched my mini playing cards with a 1/8" hole punch and threaded a 1/8" red grosgrain ribbon through the holes.  I then attached my garland to my refrigerator with strong magnets so I could move the cards out evenly, and tie the little accent ribbons on easily.  It was a lot easier than doing it while the garland was laying on my couch or kitchen island.  

The blue magnet says "I don't know what your problem is, but I bet it's hard to pronounce," FTW.

Yarn, cut fabric, little pieces of twine, tulle.  

I decided to attach the garland to 2 salvaged windows we have hanging in our living room.  Dada found them for me on the street (true love, I tell ya!) and we painted them with Old Fashioned Milk Paint in Driftwood.  I didn't really have anything going on in that spot that said, "Hey, it's Valentine's Day!" so I thought this would be a nice touch.  I love the mail baskets I have hanging underneath, but they are deep.  I need to have some tissue paper in there as a filler, to raise up anything I display in them.  Maybe I'll do that tonight.  Hey, Valentine's Day isn't until tomorrow :)

I wrote to Melissa at Country Chiq to tell her about my project and she said she loved how inspiring social media is.  I couldn't agree more.  The benefits that come from connecting, sharing project ideas, picking up bits of inspiration here and there are just endless.

There is craziness on the internet, but also loveliness, and if you are positioned to find loveliness, you will.  I promise <3
