Did you ever have a day when the Universe sends messages hurtling toward you at unnatural speeds that you must absorb upon impact, regardless of their content and the force with which they hit you?
No? It's just me that has days like that? Oh. Hmm...well, try to hang with me here, because I'll just have to explain what kind of day I've had.
I'm a member of a social media networking group called Philly Social Media Moms. It's not so much a group as much as a subculture that is open to lady bloggers in the area. I'm pretty sure if the PSMM's had to break off and live on their own, we'd be able to create a perfectly viable society that would thrive with great success, and make others wish they were one of us in the process.
Through PSMM I have connected with some beautiful women and have had some very amazing opportunities. Lately, I have been in the right place (either with a device in my hand or at my desktop), at the right time. When it rains, it just pours, people.
Last Saturday, I got to take a peek of a new performing arts charter high school in Philly (the one I covered in my last post). How did I find out? PSMM.
I am in the midst of being BRANDED! How kinky does that sound?! It's not, I promise. But when the process is over, my whole online/sosh-meeds presence will look pretty different, and pretty cohesive. I like cohesion. How did I get hooked up with my branding guru? PSMM.
I just sent an e-mail containing several interview questions to Emily Bazelon, senior editor of the online magazine Slate, and author of the New York Times bestseller Sticks and Stones: Defeating the Culture of Bullying and Rediscovering the Power of Character and Empathy." I'm going to hear her speak at the Baldwin School on Monday night. Where in the world did I get the chance to do this? PSMM.
And on, and on, and on... it's been a very busy week.
Last night, just to cap things off, another little gem on PSMM's Facebook page caught my eye... one of the members was asking for bloggers to join a campaign against anti-gay slurs. YES, MA'AM. I was thrilled to hear from Jessica this morning giving me all the details about how to join in. That post will go live tomorrow morning, so you'll just need to wait until then. But, friends, get ready. I'll need your help sharing!
So, just a little musing for you on this Thursday night. Feeling thankful, open, hopeful, and as always, ready for change.

Well, YAY! See, sometimes the only thing you can do is yell YAY! and do a little dance to go with it. So I did a little dance for you. :)
ReplyDeleteYay! I think might have felt your groove when you did your little dance! Woot! Thanks :)
DeleteI am glad you enjoy Philly Social Media Moms so much : )
ReplyDeleteYour enthusiasm is contagious.
Thank you! Felt the need to share tonight...and maybe it made somebody else smile, too :)
DeleteThis was the little push I needed, a reminder to reconnect with the networking groups I'm involved in.
ReplyDeleteSuper, Jen! I hope you can pick right up where you left off!
DeleteI had no idea that you were a part of this. That's awesome my friend!
